Regulations
The Lithuanian society of Radiation Therapy is a public legal entity of limited civil liability, it unites the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania that work in the field of radiobiology, medical physics and radial therapy, its aim is to coordinate the activities of the Union‘s members, represent and defend their interests and to meet economic, business and organizational needs of the members.
The objectives of the Society:
1. Encourage all aspects (with particular emphasis on integration) of the integration process of study, training and practical application of radial therapy, radiobiology and medical physics;
2. Consolidate and coordinate efforts of radiobiologists, medical physicists and radiotherapists of the Republic of Lithuania in order to achieve progress in radial therapy;
3. Highlight the benefits of the Societie‘s members‘ activities in medicine and related fields to the public;
4. Seek rational financial support and supervision for scientific and practical work carried out in the field of radial therapy, set out and promote promising lines of scientific and practical work;
5. Take care of the Societie‘s members‘ professional preparation, offer the most favourable conditions to access the most advanced global scientific and practical experience;
6. Unite members of the Society for solving professional, social and ethical issues.
In order to pursue its goals the Society engages in the following activities:
1. Submits recommendations, information and proposals in relation to the most topical issues of radiation therapy, radiobiology and medical physics regarding training of experts and raising their qualification, methods and methodology of practical work, work conditions and social security to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Health and other organizations;
2. Organizes and encouranges creative cooperation of specialists, organizes symposiums and conferences, cooperates with other organizations and experts in Lithuania and abroad;
3. Organizes internships for members in scientific centers and training centers abroad, sponsors undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies in establishments of higher education abroad;
4. Forms problem-solving groups and temporary groups, organizes creative groups for solution of particular issues and problems;
5. Can announce competitions, award individuals with bonuses, propose candidates for awards;
6. Publishes periodical and one-off publications;
7. In accordance with the Ministry of Health certifies and accredits specialists of radiobiology, medical physics and radial therapy.
The members of the Society can be effective members and members of honour. The amount of admission fee and membership fee and the process of payment is determined by the General Convention of the Members.
